Organizers: University of PĂŠcs, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Education, and Regional Development, and the Shoot for Earth Foundation

Theme: Clean Water for a Healthy World
The competition’s motto, „Clean water for a healthy life”, emphasizes that clean water is essential for a healthy life and that we all have a responsibility to protect and conserve water sources.

• Water Scarcity: More than 40% of the world’s population suffers from water scarcity. This number is expected to increase in the coming years due to population growth and climate change.

• Health Issues: Every year, over 3.4 million people die from water-related diseases. The lack of clean drinking water causes the spread of various diseases, such as cholera, diarrhea, and typhoid.

• Water Waste: Industrial activities and agriculture are the largest water consumers, often using water wastefully. For example, irrigation systems are often outdated and waste large amounts of water.

• Environmental Impact: Polluted water causes serious damage to the natural environment, including the ecosystems of rivers, lakes, and oceans. Polluted water results in the death of fish and other aquatic life, and impacts biodiversity.

• Sustainability: The importance of water extends not only to people but to the entire ecosystem. Sustainable water management is crucial for future generations.

• Economic Impact: Water scarcity and pollution severely affect economic development, particularly in agriculture and industry. A healthy water supply is essential for economic stability and growth.
